The work of the West Belfast Community Safety Forum (WBCSF) has made a positive contribution to the delivery of a safer community according to a new inspection report published by Criminal Justice Inspection Northern Ireland. View Report. View Press Release.

The inspection examined the impact the forum has had in increasing community safety since it was established in June 2008 following a period of community unrest. “The forum has enabled statutory and non-statutory organisations to target their resources to respond to local needs as a result of their engagement with the group,” said Dr Michael Maguire, Chief Inspector of Criminal Justice.  He said Inspectors had heard consistent support for the work of the forum expressed by statutory agencies involved with the steering group and indicated CJI had been provided with examples by the PSNI, the PPS, PPANI and Victim Support Northern Ireland where the forum had facilitated outreach opportunities in West Belfast.
