CJI has praised Belfast Harbour Police in a new follow-up inspection review for the work it has undertaken to date to implement recommendations made by the Inspectorate in 2008.  View review. View press release.

CJI Inspectors recently returned to assess progress and found that seven of the Inspectorate’s 13 recommendations had been achieved and a further five showed substantial progress. Speaking following the publication of the review, Deputy Chief Inspector Brendan McGuigan said: “In the past 18 months Belfast Harbour Police (BHP) has worked hard to continue to pursue its aim of developing a more community-orientated style of policing,  BHP have also taken steps to both improve and standardise the training provided for BHP officers which is something that CJI has welcomed.”
