James Corrigan named Acting Chief Inspector of Criminal Justice in Northern Ireland

James Corrigan has been appointed as the Acting Chief Inspector of Criminal Justice in Northern Ireland with immediate effect.
The appointment by the Minister of Justice, Naomi Long MLA follows the resignation of Jacqui Durkin who has taken up the position of Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland.
Mr Corrigan, who was previously CJI’s Deputy Chief Inspector, Chief Executive and Accounting Officer, will fill the role on a temporary basis until the completion of a public appointment process to appoint a new Chief Inspector.
Commenting on the appointment Mr Corrigan said: “I am happy to accept the position of Acting Chief Inspector for Criminal Justice in Northern Ireland. I look forward to working in partnership to secure improvements to the effectiveness and efficiency of the criminal justice system and ensuring safer communities, the transformation of public services and a better justice system for all.
“I extend my best wishes to Jacqui as she takes up the new role of Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland and thank her for the valuable contribution she made to CJI during her time with us,” he said.
