Published: 3 Jul 2026
Criminal Justice Inspection Northern Ireland (CJI) has today (3 July 2026) published its Annual Report and Accounts for the financial year ending 31 March 2026.
“The report, which was approved by the Northern Ireland Audit Office Comptroller and Auditor General, highlights the work undertaken by the Inspectorate during the last financial year,” said James Corrigan, CJI’s Acting Chief Inspector of Criminal Justice in Northern Ireland.
“Once again, the Comptroller and Auditor General has issued a clean audit certificate and recorded that she had no observations to make in relation to CJI’s financial statements, which speaks to our track record of strong financial management and effective corporate governance arrangements.
“During the financial year we published seven Inspection Reports, one Ministerial Requested Review and two Follow-Up Reviews. Reports on the effectiveness of Part 1 of the Domestic Abuse and Civil Proceedings Act (Northern Ireland) 2021 – Year Three Progress Review and a Ministerial Requested Review of the Multi Agency Review Arrangements for Terrorist Risk Offenders in Northern Ireland were completed and submitted to the Minister of Justice before year end, with publication following in early 2026-27,” said the Acting Chief Inspector.
“I am delighted to submit this report to the Northern Ireland Assembly, placing on record the valuable work carried out by CJI during 2025-26 and our continued commitment to securing a better justice system for all.
“I am grateful to the Inspectors and Business Support Team for their continued professionalism and commitment to CJI’s delivery and effective governance and extend my thanks to our Inspection partners for their support and expertise they contributed to key pieces of work during the year,” said Mr Corrigan.
