CJI publishes its 2024-25 annual Business Plan and Inspection Programme
03/07/2024
Criminal Justice Inspection Northern Ireland (CJI) has published its annual Business Plan incorporating the Inspection Programme for 2024-25.
“The objectives and targets in this Business Plan support our six strategic priorities for the second year of our Corporate Plan period. In 2024-25 we have set 28 Business Plan targets covering the Inspection Programme, Communication, People and Corporate Governance and we will report our performance against them in the Annual Report and Accounts,” said CJI Chief Inspector Jacqui Durkin.
“Our Inspection Programme for 2024-25 has been developed following consultation with
the Minister of Justice, the Attorney General for Northern Ireland, the Lady Chief Justice, leaders of organisations we inspect, voluntary and community sector senior leaders, the Department of Justice Permanent Secretary and senior officials and Members of the Legislative Assembly.
“I listened carefully to their views, and I decided on the final Inspection programme which is risk-based and reflects our five key themes of better services and delivery; better efficiency and effectiveness; better protection and safeguarding; better strategy and governance and better outcomes.
“As usual there is work ongoing from the end of the previous business year which we will complete and publish as they fall due. We look forward to commencing planning and fieldwork on the new Inspection Programme.
“The adequacy of our budget in this financial year remains a concern as we seek to manage the impact of inflation and other inescapable costs. As we move forward our ability to secure the support of other Inspectorate bodies or subject matter experts to inform our Inspection work when required remains a concern,” said Ms Durkin.
