CJI commences public consultation on Unacceptable Behaviour Policy
Published: 30 Jul 2024
The Chief Inspector of Criminal Justice in Northern Ireland Jacqui Durkin/Criminal Justice Inspection Northern Ireland (CJI) has launched a public consultation on its mapped policy for dealing with individuals whose actions or behaviour is considered to be unacceptable. In this policy, the term ‘individual’ refers to anyone who contacts CJI. The term CJI staff refers to the Chief Inspector (a public appointee) and all staff employed by CJI.
The consultation seeks views on the definitions of unacceptable actions or behaviour outlined in the policy and actions which may be taken by CJI to address unacceptable behaviour and protect the safety, dignity and wellbeing of staff and their ability to effectively carry out the business of the organisation.
The aim of the consultation is to inform the current arrangements, ensure equality of access to services for everyone who seeks to engage with the Inspectorate, make public how CJI may respond when behaviour becomes unacceptable and the actions CJI will take to review any restrictions that may be applied.
The consultation is open to everyone to respond and will last for four weeks, closing on 27 August 2024.
The interim policy under consultation will be subject to amendment and finalisation following the conclusion of the consultation period and CJI’s consideration of the consultation responses it receives.
Responses should be submitted in writing marked Policy Consultation Response to info@cjini.org or Criminal Justice Inspection Northern Ireland, Block 1, Knockview Buildings, Stormont Estate, Belfast, BT4 3SJ.
Respondents should include their name, role and organisation (if applicable) with their submission.
