CJI publishes Annual Report and Accounts for 2019-20

Criminal Justice Inspection Northern Ireland (CJI) has today (12 November 2020) published its Annual Report and Accounts for 2019-20.   

The report outlines the work undertaken by the Inspectorate during the course of the last financial year and how it used public money. 
“I am pleased to see that once again, the Inspectorate has secured a clean audit certificate from the Comptroller and Auditor General of the Northern Ireland Audit Office,” said CJI’s Chief Executive and Accounting Officer James Corrigan.

“During the financial year, we published seven full inspection reports, including two carried out at the request of the Department of Justice in the absence of a Minister of Justice, and two follow-up reviews.  All CJI’s recommendations were accepted.

 We are also pleased to have been able to maintain inspection services and respond to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic before the 31 March 2020, by enhancing our pre-existing remote and secure working arrangements,” he said.

CJI Chief Inspector Jacqui Durkin said: “This is the first CJI Annual Report and Accounts published since my appointment as Chief Inspector and I am pleased it reflects CJI’s achievements and effective corporate governance arrangements for the last financial year.”
