Criminal Justice Inspection Northern Ireland (CJI) has published its Corporate and Business Plan for 2026-27, setting out its priorities and objectives for the year ahead.

The document provides a clear overview of what CJI aims to achieve and how it will deliver against its objectives.  It includes details on the organisation’s vision and values, strategic objectives, key themes, budget and business plans, offering transparency on how resources and workforce will be managed to support delivery.

The Inspection Programme for 2026-27 is also included in this document. It was developed through consultation with a wide range of leaders of organisations in CJI’s statutory remit and stakeholders, including community and voluntary sector organisations and political representatives, as well as the Minister of Justice, Department of Justice Permanent Secretary, Attorney General and the Lady Chief Justice.  It aims to reflect wider priorities, including those set out in the Programme for Government and by the Department of Justice.  The Programme focuses on inspecting key areas of the criminal justice system, while providing independent assurance and identifying areas for improvement.

The development of the Business Plan and Inspection Programme forms an important part of CJI’s work to ensure its priorities remain relevant and support a better justice system for all.
